Tip Tuesday: Your Cycle & Wax—Timing Is Everything!

Hey Beauty Boss,

Welcome to our first Tip Tuesday—a little insider intel on what your body’s telling you and how to work with it! Today we’re diving into periods & waxing (plus a few bonus hair-and-skin fun facts).

🔍 Fun Cycle Facts

Pre-Period Sensitivity: In the 2–3 days before your period, rising prostaglandins make your skin more reactive and your pain threshold lower. Ouch! That’s why waxing can feel extra intense right before “Aunt Flo” arrives.

Hair’s Hormone Strength: During menstruation, estrogen dips and makes hair follicles cling on tighter—so hair is actually more resistant to removal at your period’s start.

Scalp Super-Sensitive: Hormonal flux doesn’t just affect your brows and bikini line—your scalp can feel tingly or tender, too. Consider skipping harsh treatments (like vivid dyes or deep-cleansing scrubs) around this time.

Oily & Breakout-Prone: Just before and during your period, sebum production often spikes. You might notice extra shine or a few surprise blemishes, especially around the chin and jawline.

Shedding Spree: Many notice a mini hair-shed about a week after their period thanks to telogen-effluvium—totally normal, but not the best time for a big hair cut if you’re aiming for volume!

💡 Waxing Wisdom

Best Window: Book your waxing 3–7 days after your period ends, when your skin is less sensitive and hair lies in its easiest-to-remove growth phase.

Pain Tip: Exfoliate gently 24 hours before to free up any ingrown hairs.

Soothing Aftercare: Apply a cool compress and an aloe-based serum to calm redness.
