Spring is always a fresh start for people. Coming out if a hibernating winter, us New Yorkers experience a sense of liberation when it comes to clothes, makeup and hair. Wearing less layers in not only clothing, but makeup as well.
Because of this, we tend to wear less on the face & eyes and more on the lips. We're also noticing a lot of kitsch brands like Lime Crime, Sugarpill Cosmetics and Kaori (see Snooki's makeup line) on the scene who have a lot of influence over these trends that are promoting these bright colored creamy and/or matte finish lip colours.
New York Fashion week however had very few bright lips. Of the 42 pages Harpers Bazaar posted from the highly coveted event, very few designers chose brights over nudes;
-Jason Wu's show MAC MUA designer Diane Kendall set bright red lips with a dusting of neon pink powder. -Carlos Miele's models wore Red Revival by Maybelline as selected by their MUA Gato.
Then there's the celebrity scene of course. Kim Kardashian most known for her smokey eyes and nude lip is sometimes now seen donning a hot pink lip.
