Spectrum News Halloween Makeup Segment with Tamani Wooley
Thank you all for watching the Spectrum News Albany Halloween Makeup segment with Tamani Wooley I was honored to be a part of on todays morning show! Below is a summarization of what I did and what products I used.
My main goal for that I wanted to be mindful of keeping it budget and eco-friendly so that number one, You didn’t have to spend a ton of money on any Halloween costume and you didn’t have to waste products you’ll never use.
This is the type of costume that you can easily add onto your every every day, Make-Up, or even just Make-Up that you would normally wear to a special event and just keep adding onto it. Whether you choose to be a mermaid or a unicorn or a kitty cat or whatever you choose, it can just be a more dramatic version of that with different special effects to create an illusion of the costume you choose.
For Tamani, I chose a mermaid because she had beautiful skin gorgeous eyes and it’s also a look that will work on any skin tone or type. Tamani did her make up like she normally would, with her base and powders and eyeshadows, so I added a lot of shimmer and shine and glitter and sparkles and illuminators.
I started at the forehead by taking a mermaid scale, stencil, and cutting it to the shape of her forehead and the edges of her hairline. Then I clipped it to her hair so that it wouldn’t move and I held onto it so that it was even more secure and started at the hairline with a purple then a blue and a teal and I overlapped the edges of them, so that it was a ombre effect.
I worked with a few different make up pallets which I listed below, and when it comes to choosing which colours you’ll use, it’s really just whatever you feel the colours should be you could work with pink and purples or purples and blue or greens and yellow it really doesn’t matter there are absolutely no rules. My biggest tip is just make sure whatever you use you’re going to see on your skin for number one and number two that you overlap each colour so that they blend better together and it looks more Like fish scales.
I did these scales on the forehead and the sides of the cheeks, and then stopped there, but you could easily do the neck and the hands and the shoulders, just whatever you want to get into doing.
I focused on her eyelids, and she did have a beautiful shimmery, frosted eyelid with a gold champagne colour, so I worked with that pallet and added a liquid shimmer right on top of her eyelid, concentrating more on the inner corner and the centre of the eyelid, so that I could easily smoke out the outer corners of her eyelid.
I then used a flat eyeliner brush that’s pretty wide. It was about a third of an inch wide and I started with a purple eyeshadow which was the same colour that I used on the forehead for the mermaid scales. I moved the brush and upward motion, sling it so that it covered about a quarter of her eyelid, and then using the same brush. I dipped it in black and pulled it upward into the purple, so that it overlapped, and it became more of a smoky eye.
Then I put a coat of mascara on top and bottom lashes, waited for it to dry after it dried. I used a thin layer of lash glue on the band of fake lashes, and press, those babies right into the lash line and her skin. The reason why you wanna have coat of mascara is because you want the lashes super stiff, so they’re not really flimsy when you go to apply the fake lashes and then they won’t slide as much.
I moved into the FACE where I used a highlighter pallet, which is actually meant for eyeshadow, but it also works for the FACE as well, and I put that on the Highplains of her face on the top of her cheekbones on the centre of her forehead right above her nose, all along the bridge of her nose down to the tip of her nose. I applied that with an oversized eyeshadow brush so that it was pretty compact with a lot of bristles and it would grab a lot of product but also blend it really well.
Then I also added a liquid illuminator that was very close to her skin tone, and I used a foundation brush to Pat into her skin, all along her, jawline, the front of her face and her chin, and then I took another foundation brush that had no product on it to blend it outward so that it was heavily concentrated where it was applied, but then it lightly faded as it went into the rest of her face.
